KSU INCHES VIDEO

Coach Terry Tillman recently posted a great video of some of our winter workout.  It is a really great look at the level of intensity the team exerted on those mornings.  Watch and enjoy HERE

Picture Day

Yesterday was my final picture day.  We had all of our individual photos, all of our position and senior photos.  What photos I will remember the most are those of my first two friends on the squad.  We took a picture of us coming in as freshmen and of course I had to take the picture of me as a senior just to complete the before and after.

First Team Scrimmage

Our first full contact scrimmage with refs was today.  Since morning meetings the whole stadium was in game mode.  We conducted walk-throughs and meetings just as we would before facing an opponent.  This scrimmage was the first full contact day we've had in a few days so we were all anxious to throw our bodies around.  The scrimmage went well.  We saw some good things and bad things on both sides of the ball.  My overall assessment is that we are on our way to our goal, but we aren't there yet.  We have to use this last few weeks to learn as much as possible.  Then I know we can be ready to face anyone.  HERE is the live chat play by play of the scrimmage, courtesy of www.kentsportsreport.com

Camp Day 2: Linebackers Looking Good

The schedule today, at first, is pretty routine.  Wake up bright and early, head to eat at the stadium for a great breakfast, get dressed, and head to watch film with the Linebackers.  I have to say that this year is looking good for the KSU linebacker corps.  We have returning players with a ton of experience.  the new guys seem to be learning the defense very quickly which is good for competition.  The starters, as of now, are the same as coming out of camp but there are some players stepping their game up.  It was a beautiful day today to start afternoon practice.  Speed was emphasized with linebacker drills while also working a lot with tackling.  All things we are trying to perfect before we get pads on.  7 on 7 was played pretty well by the Linebackers but there is a lot of room for improvement.  There was the first interception of the day by Sam Linebacker, Byron Tyson who took one to the house for the highlight of the practice.  All and all the linebackers had a pretty good day.  However, if we are going to be a championship team, good isn't what we are looking for.  Everyday we are going to work hard to become GREAT.  This was the second day of many to become a better linebacker corps and we are going to take advantage of every one.  Tomorrow is the first day with pads.  Look forward to that article.

Camp Day 1: Morning

It's day one... started off with a great breakfast... as if I wasn't excited enough to get this thing kicked off, I get to the locker room and there's brand new carpet and recliners...  Special thanks to the new athletic director Joel Nielson... a new environment for a new team and a new attitude... I'm ready to get some new results.. The morning consisted of meetings and discussing the basics... I got to get to know some of the new guys and they seem really focused... Everyone seems ready to put their heart into the season... it starts by finishing out the day and every day as best we can... here are a couple of snapshot of where I will be spending most of my off time during camp...

Our goal is simple..... to WIN

It's finally here... tomorrow is check-in day to forget Kent State football's official 2010 season... tomorrow marks the day my mind and body will both be pushed to their limits to achieve our team goal... a goal that seems so fragile... we have to put every effort we have in our bodies to keep it from breaking... I hope that this camp pushes me to my limits... it is only then that I can truly improve...  I say this to everyone reading so you will not be confused... our goal is to WIN every game...  We are not in this business to lose... I've been down that road before... It is not place I want to end my career at.  I just got off the phone with my good friend Brian Hummer, one of the hardest working people I know, and he continued to tell me how much extra effort we need to put in to really change things.  He is absolutely right.  No real change has ever happened without extra work.  To change anything you have to do something different than you did before.  Thats how I would like to approach this season.  I hope that my teammates will embrace this same attitude.
